: HB replies: GIS is of major use in the field of public health research (specifically epidemiology). I have noted at past general GIS issues conferences that there is often a well attended public health session. This crowd is especially unexposed to FOSS alternatives, some sort of GRASS peer resource for them could be useful. Especially for the cash-strapped non-profits current forking out donated dollars to pay for software licenses.
:: MN I have a couple of [http://gis.fem-environment.eu/publications/ papers] co-authored in this field, could extract some methods if of interest (as timer permits)
