Elena Mezzini is a Research Fellow in Forest Ecology at Agricultural Sciences Dept. of Bologna University, mainly working as GIS expert on remote sensing of forestal ecosystems. Elena received her PhD in "Colture Arboree ed Agrosistemi Forestali, Ornamentali e Paesaggistici" from the University of Bologna in 2013, working on the thesis "New techniques for the remote sensing of foliar nitrogen concentration in forest ecosystems". In 2009 she received the MSc degree in "Progettazione e gestione degli agroecositemi forestali, ornamentali e del paesaggio" from the University of Bologna, working on the evaluation of forest biomass availability through mechanization and GIS analysis. Her main research interests are remote sensing of forest ecosystems, applications based on Free and Open Source GIS softwares.
