Error Region

Q: ERROR: Default region not set

A: This error means there is no region presently defined. (A definition of "region" is needed...) The obvious method, using "d.region", offers no way to alter the default and any changes will fail with an error that there is no default region. You must create a new map and define a region, even if the range is 0-1. Then new regions can be defined.
