I am an open source pioneer, having co-founded Cygnus Support in 1989, the world's first company to provide commercial support for free and open source software. I wrote the GNU C++ compiler, ported GDB to support C++, and ported the GNU tools to nearly a dozen microprocessor architectures. I am a past President of the Open Source Initiative and former CTO of Red Hat. I have supported numerous open source projects, including GRASS, through direct code contributions, financial support, and general community boosterism.
