I earned a master's degree in Landscape Architecture in March 2011 at the University of Genoa, Faculty of Architecture. During my studies, I approached the use of Open Source GIS software applied to environmental analysis and then I improved my knowledge by taking part in training courses and an internship at Edmund Mach Foundation – Research and Innovation Centre, San Michele all' Adige, Trento, Italy). I earned a Ph.D. in Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering - Geodesy and Geomatic area at Politecnico of Milan with a thesis titled "Preprocessing of Sentinel-2 optical images: a new procedure for clouds and shadows masking". I successfully completed the Google Summer Of Code in 2018 developing two GRASS GIS add-ons for the preprocessing of Sentinel-2 images: i.sentinel.preproc and i.sentinel.mask.
